2007-2008 FTC

The Mechanical Magicians competed in the 2007-2008 FIRST Tech Challenge. The robot was a combo claw / pusher. The claw was used to reach out and capture the goal, the large pusher scoop on the opposite side was used to push rings into the low goal. The drive train was designed for max pushing/pulling, the Mechanical Magicians were able to drag a goal and another robot into their scoring zone.

Amanda, Brianna and Xiaolei were members of the team that year.

2008-2009 VRC

For the 2008-2009 VRC Elevation Game the Team 81 was made up of all middle school roboteers that were new to robotics. Their "A frame" extendable / retractable arm with claw won them an award for best design by a rookie team. They were able to score on all the goals and were also able to move and flip the large scoring cube. Praveen, Michael, and Jack were part of this team.

2009-2010 VRC

Team 81 carries on the three year legacy, but with a new name, Longshot. This team of all new roboteers created a sophisticated robot that worked well at the December Penn State Scrimmage.

Going back into the shop in January produced a robot that won the Middle School Excellence Award at the Christopher Dock Competition.

They have continued to refine the robot in preparation for the Mid-Atlantic Championships.

Mid Atlantic Championship

The team competed at the Clean Sweep Mid-Atlantic Championship on February 27, 2010.
